JOAN LEWIS PETERSON Joan Lewis Peterson 1931 ~ 2010 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan Lewis Peterson passed away March 16, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born April 7, 1931 in Hunter, Utah to Wilford Albert and Mabel Ann Bertoch Lewis. She married Roy B. Peterson April 11, 1951 in Hunter, UT; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Joan was a devoted member of the LDS Church where she served in many callings. She was very artistic and was continually doing handicrafts and home decorations. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and her biggest joy was being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband; children, Karen (Stewart) Simons and Cory (Sondra) Peterson; grandchildren, Emilee, Michael, and Sheena Simons, Jessica (Erick) McGill, and Kristyn Peterson; great granddaughter, McKenna Simons. She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Glen Lewis; and sister, Coral Huish. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Samuelson, Dr. Saundra Buys, and the nursing staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Hunter 2nd Ward, 3970 S. 5200 W. my sweet grandma

This morning my sweet grandma Joan Lewis Peterson passed away. She put up a hard fought battle with breast, lymph and liver cancer for over two years. Through it all my sweet little grandpa was with her, every step of the way. They love they have for eachother is almost unreal. I am so grateful for being able to have such a wonderful relationship with my grandma all throughout my life. What a blessing she has been to me and my family! She was absolutely crazy about McKenna and McKenna was absolutely crazy about her. My sweet grandma was with me when I delivered Kenna and she loved being able to tell everybody she could that she cut McKenna's umbilical cord. My grandma was born in 1931, making her almost 79 and would have been married to my grandpa 59 years this April 11th. I have so many wonderful memories of my grandma and I love her with all of my heart!
